Farmer helping farmers grow

A two-year-long experiential regenerative agriculture training program, by farmers, for farmers.

Roots to regeneration

What is it?

Pioneered by Caroline Grindrod and Clare Hill, the primary aim of Roots To Regeneration or R2R in short – is to facilitate a ‘whole system’ transition in food and farming.

It teaches the thinking, design, implementation and ongoing adaptation of resilient and profitable regenerative farming systems.

R2R is for both farmers and professionals to give a deep and wide learning experience grounded in farm-based examples and embedded in a supportive regenerative community and culture.

The Story of R2r

Decades in the making

After years of working in the food and farming industry in various roles – and successfully transitioning two farms to regenerative agriculture – Caroline Grindrod, and I, Clare Hill, set out to create something truly different. We wanted a program that not only reflected our own journeys into regeneration but also filled the gaps we saw in existing offerings.

Our goal was to go beyond simply teaching technical knowledge. We wanted to facilitate the mindset shift needed to become an exceptional regenerative farmer or leader. Rather than layering new practices onto outdated models designed for a fossil fuel-driven world, we sought to empower farmers and food industry professionals with a design-based approach to their operations.

Finding roots

Community

To achieve this, we brought together a ‘dream team’ of regenerative specialists and thought leaders, integrating a wide range of expertise to guide participants through their transition.

We also recognized the need for a strong, supportive community—one that nurtures new ideas and ensures they continue to evolve long after the program ends. By fostering a regenerative culture within the food and farming industry, we aim to create lasting change at every level.

On the ground

R2R @ Planton Farm

As part of this immersive experience, Roots to Regeneration participants will spend time at Planton Farm where we dive deep into the root causes of problems we see in our farming systems. Those who want to gain additional hands-on experience can also work one-on-one with George on the farm, engaging directly with the practical side of regenerative agriculture.
